When you spend the weekend in a small town like Petaluma, CA, the food options tend to be pretty limited. Which is why quality restaurants like Speakeasy (which was just down the street from our hotel) are thoroughly appreciated. Due to convenience, we ended up eating at this quaint restaurant for brunch AND dinner, and the menu offered a variety of food groups such as tacos, seafood, and fried chicken! Scroll down for our menu item reviews.
Organic Chicken and Waffles – (pictured above) juicy white meat fried just a hair past perfection giving the batter a crisp texture to compliment the tender meat. The waffles were pretty traditional and tasted great with butter.
Despite the beautiful presentation of this brunch dish, I have to give this meal three stars due to the lack of seasoning. I had to drown the chicken in sriracha sauce ( I really wish they served tobacco) in order to supplement the lack of flavor.
The Short Rib Taco – You can’t go wrong with this slow cooked beef taco topped with guac and salsa. One or two of these will fill you up without sitting too heavy on your stomach. The only change I would make to this recipe is to have a corn tortilla option instead of just flower. Flower tortillas and tacos just don’t mix in my opinion.Grilled Wild Salmon – served with caramelized brussels sprouts, bacon, and saffron burre blanc. This very well seasoned filet of salmon blends with the veggies and much appreciated sauce immpeccably .
